Dr.

Gregory Maggass

 is a

radiation oncologist

 who came to the Valley in 1987 to join Radiation Oncologists of Central Arizona and served as the Medical Director of the Arizona Oncology Services, East Valley Center, since 1989. He joined Arizona Breast Cancer Specialists and Arizona Radiation Oncology Specials in October of 2009.
Dr. Maggass earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin after completing an undergraduate degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado. He completed his residency at the University of Southern California Medical Center, where he received specialized training in brachytherapy.
He has a particular interest in the treatment of prostate cancer with both brachytherapy (permanent seed implantation and high dose rate) and IMRT/IGRT radiation therapy. He has extensive experience in prostate brachytherapy using radioactive seeds, including Theraseed (Pd-103), Oncoseed (I-125), and Proxcelan (C-131). He is a leader in bringing this therapy to patients in Arizona.
Dr. Maggass has extensive experience in breast brachytherapy using MammoSite, Contura and SAVI devices and the multiplanar method. Breast brachytherapy has been a particular interest of his since his residency in radiation oncology. He provides treatment for a variety of other cancers including lung, endobronchial, gynecologic, gastrointestinal and skin malignancies using the latest radiation therapy techniques. In addition, he utilizes Zevalin and Bexxar radioimmunotherapy for patients with low grade lymphomas.
Dr. Maggass is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology and a Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology. He has participated in clinical trials since moving to Arizona. He has also been named a "Top Doc" in Phoenix Magazine and received the national "Best Doctor's" ranking.
